What Does a Success-Oriented Mind Mean?

We all want to be successful and have success-oriented minds. Being successful is a relative thing. It really depends on our point of view. To some of us, success is a synonym for money, business accomplishment, etc. For others, being successful is equal to being a good person, with an open heart and open mind and doing your best every day. However, one of the things successful people have in common is a success-oriented mind.

The most important thing for you is to define what success means to you. This is the foundation and the base for further development. By doing that, you will acknowledge what do you want to accomplish in life.

Now, I will guide you through some of the most important steps towards building a success-oriented mind.

Success-Oriented Mind Step1: Engage in Positive Self-talk

Convince yourself everyday that you are worthy of a good life. Let go of stress, breathe. Stay positive, all is well.

Germany Kent

Self-talk is your internal dialogue. It is crucial to understand the importance of positive self-talk because it will determine how you see yourself. The way we see ourselves is the way other people see us.

Did you know that 70% of our daily thoughts are recycled? Imagine the practice of negative self-talk, where you criticize yourself most of the time. How that makes you feel about yourself? If you accept the idea that the words are energy, what type of energy are you sending inside when you tell yourself that you’ re not worthy or not clever enough, etc.

This way of thinking will become your worst enemy and it will distract you and eventually destroy you. We are prone to self-criticism but why don’t we praise ourselves? Do you ever notice how you feel when you say something nice to other people? You feel better, right? The same goes for everything that lives on this planet. There was dozen of experiments with flowers. It is confirmed that if you talk to flower (of course, saying nice and positive things) you can help it grow and heal.

The same way, we can use positive daily affirmations and say nice things about ourselves. This is the first step on our way to building a success-oriented mind. You see, it’s all about orientation. You have to be oriented to success. However, you should be aware that this cannot change overnight, so you have to fake it ’till you make it.

Success-Oriented Mind Step 2: Learn from Your “Failure”

Success is never final and failure never fatal. It’s courage that counts.

Winston Churchill

There is no such thing as a failure. There are only experiences that turn into lessons. Hence, failure happens when things didn’t work out for you as you expected, but still, you got to learn from it. Sometimes, it’s better not to succeed so that you can see that learning from your “mistakes” isn’t that bad at all. You did the best you can, and there’s nothing wrong with it. Make the best out of it, put back your crown and move on. This is what success-oriented people do.

Moreover, you should know that one so-called mistake or failure is not so important as your accomplishments. Don’t mistake your life with your life situation. Don’t let your past dictate your future, because every day is a new chance. Like the Sun, you are born again every day, and there are vast choices and options for you ou there. I will tell you one inspiring story.

There is a tribe in South Africa that has this amazing custom. In this tribe, when someone does something bad, they take the person to the center of the village where the whole tribe comes and surrounds him. They spend the next two days saying to the man all the good things that he has done. This tribe believes that we all came to this world as a good. Also, they believe that each one of us deserves love, peace, and joy.

Sometimes, in the pursuit of these things, people make mistakes. This tribe sees those mistakes as a cry for help. They unite in their intention to lift him, to reconnect him with his true nature, to remind him who he really is until he is better. Nabayotisaikia, is a compliment used in South Africa and means: “I respect you, I cherish you. You matter to me.” In response, people say Shikoba, which is: “So, I exist for you.” Accepting this practice is your life will make you reconnect with your self and stop negative self-talk. For instance, try keeping a folder with all of your successes, either personal on professional. Every time you fail, open that folder and see how far have you come.

Success-Oriented Mind Step 3: Acknowledge things holding you back

Self-awareness is one of the rarest of human commodities. I don’t mean self-consciousness where you’re limiting and evaluating yourself. I mean being aware of your own patterns.

Tony Robbins

Human beings are like yin and yang. There’s a light inside us, but there’s darkness too. There’s a strength but we all have certain weak spots as well. Sometimes is hard to accept those flaws. If we want to develop it’s inevitable. Acceptance is the greatest power in the world. It means that we no longer resist and that we allow everything to be as it is. Basically, it’s like we made peace with the world. Self-acceptance is the foundation for further development and growth. Once you to know what your weakness is, nobody can use it against you ever again.

This rule can be implemented in every aspect such as business, career, relationships, etc. Only when we identify our flaws we can go on and improve ourselves. We can’t work on something if we don’t know what to fix. Therefore, getting to know ourselves first is the most important thing to do. All people who had developed success-oriented minds had to go through this. We have to think successful in order to be successful, and we can’t do that by criticizing ourselves.

Step 4: Only compete with yourself

Remember, you don’t compete with anyone, you make them compete with you. You can control what you put on yourself; you can’t control what the other guy puts on you. So you focus only on the internal pressure that drives you. Run to it, embrace it, feel it, so no one else can throw more at you than you’ve already put on yourself.

Tim S Grover

The exact moment you acknowledge what is holding you back in your life you will realize that you are the only enemy you will ever have. The only person you should be competing with is you. We should try to be better than yesterday, and hope that tomorrow will be even better.

Nowadays, with social media entering every pore of our lives, we are so exposed like everyone else. All of a sudden, we can see every single detail of someone’s life. Celebrities or not, we are daily introduced to a desirable look, lifestyle, business, car, etc. Sometimes it’s too much to take, so we just dive into the madness. It’s almost impossible not to compare yourself with others. You don’t have to do it intentionally, one thought just pops out of your head and make you think that there’s someone better. Guess what? There will always be someone better, smarter, prettier or with more money.

You should not care about that because once you realize how special you are nothing will ever hold you back. There is no person in this world that looks, thinks, loves, lives like you. Why does it matter t you if someone’s been promoted and you’re still at a lower flour? As long as you’re there, enjoy the view. Try to become a better version of yourself, motivate yourself daily. Be so consumed by learning new stuff, by evolving that you no longer care for the outer world. This doesn’t mean that you should isolate yourself, it means that you should care more about yourself and less about your neighbors. Bear in mind this saying by John Mason “You were born an original, don’t die a copy!

Step 5: Believe you’ll succeed

Our success is measured by personal beliefs, not by anybody else’s standards or beliefs.

Henry Marsh

You probably heard this saying by Walt Disney: If you can dream it, you can do it. This sums all the worlds’ wisdom. You can say what a person thinks if you take a closer look at their life. If you think that you will be successful, you will be. If you think that you’re going to fail you will. You probably heard this countless times before. However, let’s experiment. Close your eyes and imagine something that scares you. Notice how you feel. You feel that you are encountering it. You can feel the anxiety, fear. It’s like you’re dreaming, you can’t tell the difference between a dream and reality when you sleep. Your brain thinks that it’s the truth. Luckily, you can reverse the process.

Imagine something nice is about to happen. How does that make you feel? Imagine your family happy and healthy. You can imagine everything you like, as long as it makes you comfortable. This process is visualization. It’s a powerful tool that will help you be successful. Try studying the behavior of anyone successful in your opinion. You will see that their state of mind is quite different. Unlike others, successful people don’t spend their time thinking about what’s going to happen if they don’t succeed. They think about the opposite scenario.

Trying to flip a negative thought and turn it into a positive or neutral will only improve your life. Belief is is a thought repeated continuously. To make your beliefs better, first, you should try controlling your thoughts processes. Hence, to change or belive system we should change every thought. It may take a while, but it’s worth it.

Step 6: Surround yourself with top talent

Mindsets are contagious. So choose the people you populate your life with extremely well.

Robin S. Sharma

Your surroundings will define you. Pay close attention to people who surround you. Are they successful? Do you find their story inspiring? Can you learn something from them? Do you feel you can progress by being around them? If your question to all of the answers above is NO, you should change something. You can’t be positive if you’re surrounded by negativity and drama. You can’t do great things when you’re daily routine is mediocre. In the business world, a true leader is he who surrounds himself with greater minds and better talents. A true leader is not afraid to be wrong. He learns from others, he is inspired by others.

This is why you should be careful who you choose to spend time with. You are the food that you eat, the books your eat, your daily habits but above all, you are who you choose to spend your time with. In other words, choose better. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you should ignore all the people in your life who are not as talented as you. It only means that you should try as much as you can to meet people who will make you feel better, inspired and work on yourself.

Step 7: Develop a simple morning routine

Success is not something you can build overnight. Success is like a home. You build it gradually, brick by brick. By developing a success-oriented mind you have finished the first flour. This first step is so important and crucial. The same goes for your morning routine. The moment you open your eyes in the morning is the moment when you get a new chance. Not everyone will have that chance. So many died while we were sleeping. We are blessed to be alive. Let’s do something great with our lives. This is the way a success-oriented mind would think.

Gratitude is always a good place to start. Start your day by doing something for yourself. Something that it would make you feel better. Meditate, do yoga, drink your favorite tea, have a cup of coffee or just contemplate. Do it with your heart and do it with a smile. There’s no excuse, you’ve been given a new chance every day. Don’t waste it!

As you can see success is not so easy to accomplish. Isn’t it? Well, it really depends on your point of view. If you have a success-oriented mind you’re destined to do great things. Having a mind like this means intentionally choosing to look on the bright side of life. Success-oriented mind doesn’t dwell on the past or worry about the future. It does not look at the problem, but rather face it and think about the solution. It’s all about the way you think. It’s all about the way you feel. If we live so much inside our heads, let’s make sure it’s a nice place to live in.

No matter what comes your way, shake it off and move forward. When you have a positive mindset, you can’t be defeated.
